Balanced cantilever methods of bridge construction can be divided into 2 types according to girder making, that is casting method of balance cantilever and precast assembly of balance cantilever.

For casting methods of bridge construction in balanced cantilever, form traveller casting method is mainly used. Form traveller casting system employs hanging movable traveller(called as basket) to casting segment girder form piers to two directions(each segment 2-5m). After casting each segment girder until it reaches the regulated strength enough to conduct tensing on pre-stressing tendon and then anchor. In the following step, move forward the form traveller for the following segment construction until it connects as a whole.

For precast assembly of balanced cantilever methods of bridge construction, segment lifter construction equipment is used. The segment girder is prefabricated in nearby casting yard. Transport the girder by ship crane or tyre transporter to work site and then lift the girders to pier’s two sides and erect by balance cantilever method. Tension pre-stressing tendon and repeat the work cycles until the bridge connect as a whole.
